Heavy rainfall continues in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi; No floods reported

Mangaluru, 28 Aug 2017: Heavy rainfall activities continued for the 5th day on Monday over Coastal Karnataka including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Mangaluru city and its surrounding areas recorded 10 Cm rainfall in the 4 to 5 days, according to the observations concluded on Sunday morning.

 

No flood like situation has emerged either in Dakshina Kannada or Udupi district as moderate rainfall activities seen in the two districts for the last four to five days, reports said. Rain, thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places over coastal Karnataka and at many places over interior Karnataka, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a weather forecast.

 

Strong onshore winds from westerly to north-westerly direction with a speed occasionally reaching 45-55 km per hour are likely to occur along and off Karnataka coast during next 24 hours, IMD said.

 

Very heavy rainfall of 14 Cm recorded in Agumbe followed by 12 Cm rainfall in Gersoppa of Uttara Kannada district during the last three to four days, according an IMD observation concluded on Sunday morning.

 

Heavy rainfall activities (in cms) recorded in Panambur 11 followed by Mangaluru,  Kundapur, Shirali 10 each; Kota, Karkala, Linganamakki 9 each; Mudubidre, Sulya, Siddapura   8 each; Mani, Dharmasthala, Puttur, Honnavar, Sringeri, Kottigehara, Jayapura 7 each.
