Udupi: New Holy Cross erected at under-renovation Kalmady Church building

Udupi, 26 Jul 2017: A new holy cross was erected on under-renovation Stella Maris Church building at Kalmady, near here, on Tuesday, July 25.
The church is renovated in the shape of a ship that is first in Karnataka, while the stainless-steel cast holy cross was erected on the arch of the church. It’s 3.5 meters tall, 2 meters in width and weights 250 kilograms. The parish priest Fr Andrew D’Souza led the prayer service, while the crane placed the holy cross on the pedestal high above.
The church that is under renovation will have 10,000 square feet space that can accommodate 700 devotees. It will be set for inaugural on January 6, 2018.
The parish council vice president Sanjay Andrade, secretary Shobha Mendonca, renovation Committee convener Louis Lobo, Fr Steven and parishioners were present.
