President Ranjith Shenoy accorded a warm welcome to all the dignitaries on dais and students and media persons gathered. The Students Council 2017-18 was officially inaugurated by lighting of the traditional lamp by all guests on the dais.

Prof. Mathew C. Ninan in his key note address requested to students to learn the value of the education. He said education is not a goal to make money and power but to achieve great success in terms of happiness, a fulfilling, self satisfaction to do something to the society we live in. He sighted many examples of how women atrocities have been committed in the current world and especially in India at an alarming rate. He asked the students what is their responsibility towards this inhuman treatments/injustice of women, just to feel sympathy or have an empathy.

He further said, the students should have empathy towards them and not just feel sympathy. He said that being a responsible student we must condemn these acts and acts towards reducing these problems. That should be our goal to reach out people, develop responsibilities, to do something better than others. For that he said the students must cultivate good qualities from the beginning. He gave them four valuable lessons of life to ponder and act and i.e. THINK, BELIEVE DREAM and DARE. He sighted one of the most famous example that is of the great Emperor Alexander the great wherein he concurred the nations, accumulated wealth and power but when he died he realised what all he did was nothing of use to him after his death. He requested students not to work towards these goals but to works toward the betterment of society we live in and a great responsible member of our nation by respecting our parents, taking care of the little ones, lessen the suffering of the under-privileged and poor and have a greatest satisfaction in life. Prior to conclusion he said cultivate reading habits wherein you can gain vast knowledge which will be beneficial to your life.

The oath taking ceremony was performed by the Principal Prof. Rajan wherein all the students took oath and promised to work towards the betterment of college, to be responsible students of the institutions and work toward the progress of the institution and their own.

Correspondent Fr. Stany Tauro in his address to the students said that since the G.S.T is now implemented, the demand for Commerce graduates had increased. Earlier he said there was great demand for Engineers and Doctors, but today the education field is much more diverse and vast. However, he said just obtaining a deg from an institution should not be a goal of the student. Deg is only a vehicle to fulfil your dreams of greater human being, toward the happy and lasting life. He especially sighted example of the secretary of Students Council Hanumantha J.K. of 3rd B.Com wherein he has secured 3rd place in 20 km state level race. He said that’s a great achievement from a very ordinary student from a small community in North Karnataka. While congratulating him on this great success, he requested all students that should be the goal of every student to achieve something greater than just a degree take part in sports and other cultural activities and fulfil your dream he said.

All the guests on dais were presented with memorable mementos by Student Council and vote of thanks was delivered by the secretary Hanumantha J.K and the grand celebration of Oath taking ceremony concluded with a national anthem.
