Dubai: Bharatanatyam dancer Smurti Shenoy to present maiden show in Udupi on Jul 9

Dubai, 04 Jul 2017: The arangetram of Smruti Dayanand Shenoy, who is learning Bharatanatyam in UAE is scheduled to be held at MGM College, Ravindra Kala Mantap, Udupi, on July 9 at 5.00pm. She is the disciple of Vidushi Rohini Anant owned Classical Rhythms, UAE.

 

The national award recipient theater artiste, actor and director Kasargod Chinna, Vidhushi Manasi, Vidhwan Sudhir Rao, founder director of Nrutya Niketan, Kodavoor, Udupi will be the guests of honor.

She is the daughter of Dayanand and Deepa Shenoy, residing in UAE. She is studying in Class IX at Hone Girls High School, Sharjah, UAE.  She is the topper in the school and actively involved in Bharatanatyam, fine arts and music.

 

She began learning Bharatanatyam when she was five-year-old and joined Symphony Music Institute, Sharjah to learn music. She joined Classical Rhythm during 2012 and continued learning Bharatanatyam with mentor Vidushi Rohini.

 

She had presented her shows during Vishwa Kannada Sammelan, Karnataka Rajyotsav, national festival held at Indian embassy, Indian and Karnataka associations in UAE.

 

After perfecting her Bharatanatyam dance, she is now prepared to present her maiden show in her hometown Udupi on July 9.

About Vidushi Rohini Anant, Indian cultural ambassador in UAE

She had launched Classical Rhythm to promote Bharatanatyam among the children in UAE. Since then she is mentoring the students in different forms of Bharatanatyam that she had learnt from many renowned teachers. 

 

She had founded Swaralaya School of Performing Arts that trained over 150 students in Bharatanatyam. She had presented several shows across India.

 

She is also served as invigilator in Karnataka Exam Board, Bengaluru, organized workshops to promote performing art.   

 

She is the recipient of Kittoor Rani Chennamma Award by Karnataka state administration in for promoting Bharatanatyam in UAE. She also received Excellence Award for Dance in Dubai, Kerala state Award, Aryabhata Award-2013, Chanakya Award and Nrutya Ratna Award during Katak Mahotsav.
