Mumbai: Model Co-op Bank organize seminar on GST to entrepreneurs

Mumbai, 02 Jun 2017: Model Co-operative Bank, in association with Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and Dimensions organized a seminar on GST (Goods and Service Tax) at Xavier Institute of Engineering, Mahim, here, on Tuesday, July 27 at 5.30pm. The seminar was organized to educate people about GST, the changes that it brings to the present taxation structure and its impact on us. The seminar was attended by around 300 entrepreneurs.
The gathering was addressed by 2 eminent speakers - G V Bilolikar, joint commissioner of sales tax and Dr David Alvares, deputy commissioner of sales tax. The seminar was chaired by Albert W D’Souza, chairman of Model Co-op Bank who was joined on the dais by Anthony Sequeira, chairman of CCCI and Fr Francis De Melo, director of Xavier Institute of Engineering, Mahim, here.
Albert W D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Fr Francis De Melo who spoke on why such type of events were required to educate people.
G V Bilolikar gave a broad overview of GST, its benefits and impact on various sectors and common man.
Dr David Alvares with a very informative power point presentation covered GST in detail. He discussed the topics of GST as a game changer, invoicing under GST, returns filing and time lines for the same, compliance rating on web portal, reverse charge mechanism, GST tax rates, composite tax etc.
The presentations were followed by a round of question and answers. Since the audience was primarily of entrepreneurs from different fields there were a wide and interesting range of questions which were addressed by G V Bilolikar and Dr David Alvares.
