Mangaluru: Yuva Spandan, Derebail observes Vanamahotsava

Yuva Spandan Derebail (YSD), a formal youth group of the parish of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail, which is affiliated to Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Mangaluru diocese observed the Vanamahotsava day, on Sunday, June 18.
The program commenced after the Sunday mass, at 10.30 AM in the premises of the church. Fr Austin Peter Peres, the parish priest was the chief guest, along with Fr Gratian Alvares, the resident priest, Lizzie Fernandes, the secretary of parish Council and Preston Russel Sequeira, the president of YSD – ICYM.
The event began with a short welcome by Ms Jenifer Pinto, the liturgy secretary of YSD. Followed by a short message by the parish priest, Fr Austin highlighted on 3 ‘R’s’ the citizens must look upon, Renew – Re-use – Recycle. He also stressed on how the parishioners can grow vegetation in and around their house and make change in the society.
Later, Joylin D’Cunha, the cultural and sports secretary of YSD delivered the vote of thanks. The guests and parishioners moved towards the cemetery where the plants were planted. A total of 20 plants were planted on the vicinity of the church.
