Mumbai, 05 June 2017: Wadia Hospital in association with GoAir celebrated World Environment Day and its commitment to greener planet by planting saplings in the hospital compound. Keeping in tune with this year’s theme, “Connecting People to Nature”, senior staff members including pilots and cabin crew from GoAir planted more than 50 saplings and educated children about the need to appreciate nature’s beauty and importance, and to take forward the call to protect the Earth that we share. Drawing competition was organized for children getting treatment at Wadia hospitals to showcase their creativity & draw inspiration to save the environment.

Dr Minnie Bodhanwala, CEO, Wadia Hospitals said, ‘World Environment Day (WED) is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the environment. It is the opportunity for everyone to realize their responsibility of taking care of the Earth and to become agents of change. Through this initiative with GoAir, we aim to make children appreciate natural resources and their contribution to our very existences and how taking them for granted could prove to be detrimental to future generations.’

‘In GoAir, we adopt high standards of green responsibility. To protect environment GoAir has since inception been following a policy of using the most modern and fuel efficient fleet thereby reducing fuel burn and emission of green house gases. In addition, GoAir implements a comprehensive package of measures which includes optimization of weight of the aircraft, taking the optimum flight path, flight level and many other measures in all operational areas which help us to reduce fuel consumption thus minimizing impact on the environment. GoAir is operating A320 NEO the most fuel efficient aircraft in its class and has 144 aircraft on order. This year we have even distributed seed paper to our passengers as part of this awareness drive,’ said Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, managing director and CEO, GoAir.

‘This activity underlines and further reinforces the airline’s commitment and efforts towards environmental sustainability. Through this initiative with BaiJerbai Wadia Hospital for Children, GoAir aims to increase awareness about the significance of contributing to nature,’ he further added.
