London: Keith Vaz campaigns for Dr Neeraj Patil in Putney

London, 02 Jun 2017: Keith Vaz, the longest serving Labour MP of Indian origin campaigned for Dr Neeraj Patil in Putney constituency of London. Dr Patil is the first Kannadiga to run for the British Parliament. Keith Vaz originally hails from Goa and has been on a winning streak from Leicester East since 1987. Leicester has the largest Indian population in UK.
Dr Patil is pitted against the Conservative Education Minister of Britain Justine Greening who is representing the constituency since 2005.He is a Consultant in Accident and Emergency Medicine who has served as Mayor of The London Borough of Lambeth in 2010-2011.
Dr Patil is a NRI from Karnataka who had successfully led the campaign to erect the statue of pioneer of Indian Democracy Basaveshwara on the bank of river Thames.
The elections are due to be held on June 8, 2017 and the impact of Brexit on the British economy has been the main issue. However recently the proposed a tax on social care by the conservatives has not gone well with the voters and Labour is criticizing this as a dementia tax.
