Bantwal: Centurion freedom fighter Madan Master passes away

Bantwal, 28 Mar 2017: The centurion freedom fighter K P Madan Master passed away at his residence in Seraje, near Perla, here on Monday, March 27.
Madan was one among the freedom fighters had taken part in Quit India Movement and was closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi. He had celebrated his 100th birthday on Jan 2, 2017. He also served in Indian army and later retired as teacher. He was popular for out of court settlement for all the disputes among the farmers in his hometown. He was a progressive farmer and was engaged in bee keeping. He was active in promoting Kannada and a veteran of co-operative movement. He was voluntarily involved in implementing Land Reforms Act, thereby helping hundreds of poor farmers to get their rights for their lands.
He was a staunch Gandhian and was active till his last breadth. He was felicitated by the people at his hometown and Dakshina Kannada district administration felicitated him during Gandhi Jayanti at Gandhi Park, Mangaluru recently.
Kerala MLA Karunakaran, former MLA C H Kunjambu, K T Satischandran, K Kunhi Raman, gram panchayat president Roopa Maniyar Bhat, Somashekar J S, Subbanna Alva, B V Rajan, Abdul Razak Chippar, Muneer Katipalla, Sunil Kumar Bajal and others visited the family to pay their last respect.
DK district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai and Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty offered condolences on the demise of freedom fighter Madan Master.
