Bantwal: BJP stages protest against state govt over anti-farmer policies

Bantwal, 12 Mar 2017: The state government that is anti-farmers failed in every way. Its delaying to award compensation to the victims of extended vented-dam at Thumbay, causing havoc on the farmers farming along the shore of Netravati River, by increasing the height of the vented dam to store more water, who face their farmlands likely to inundate in floods caused by vented dam, mocked progressive farmer and BJP leader Rajesh Naik Ulepadiguttu.
Addressing the gathering of protesters who gathered underneath the flyover at B C Road, here on Friday, March 10, Naik urged the DK district-in-charge and state environment minister Ramanath Rai to address the grievances of farmers as the lifeline Netravati River is polluted threatening the livelihood of farmers. The protest was organized by BJP Bantwal taluk Committee.
BJP leaders Umanath Kotian, former MLA Padmanabha Kottari, Sulochana G K Bhat and Rajeev Bhandary also addressed the protesters.
