Udupi: 3rd National flood lit Cricket Tourney inaugurated at Katpadi

Udupi, 12 Feb 2017: The state government has been encouraging sports and athletes, while special emphasis also laid to develop sports grounds in rural areas. Meanwhile, an integral development project will be laid to develop Nehru maidan in Katpadi, near here, said Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake.
Sorake was speaking after inaugurating third national flood lit Cricket Tournament, 3-day event that was organized by Friends Katpadi® at Nehru maidan, Palligudde, Katpadi, near here on Friday, February 10.
Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district fish marketing Federation chairman Yaspal A Suvarna was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Yashpal said that cricket is most favorite game of youth in India, while the rural players can improve their cricketing skills by partaking in tournament, by watching international cricket in TV channels.
Kote gram panchayat president Krutika Rao presided the programme.
K Satyendra Pai, managing director of Vijaya Solar, Katpady; ZP member Geetanjali Suvarna, ZP former president Katpady Shankar Poojary, Kote gram panchayat vice president Ganesh Kumar Mattu, KRS Cricket Academy CEO Shukoor, Karnataka State Fisheries Board director Deepak Kumar Yermal, Kote gram panchayat members Susheel Bolar and Ratnakar Kotian were present.
Udupi district Rajyotsav Award recipient cricket coach Udayakumar Y and Kaup-Padubidri pro-society journalists were felicitated on the same occasion.
