Bantwal: SUV plunges into 40-feet gorge; driver dies; others survive

Bantwal, 03 Feb 2017: A driver of a luxury SUV died instantly when his car plunged into 40 feet gorge besides Vidyanatha temple, near SVS College, Bantwal – Beltangady Road, on Thursday, February 2.

 

 

The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Karthik Bhat, chief priest of Ananteshwara temple, Vittal, near here.  Karthik and his family were returning home after visiting Durgaparameshwari temple, Kateel on Thursday late night, when the tragedy occurred.  Karthik was driving the SUV that plunged the gorge nearby Vaidyanatha temple, here.

 

 

Karthik died instantly, while his father Vijay Bhat, mother Deepa Bhat, children Atharva and Adya were survived with minor injuries, informed Bantwal traffic police.

 

Bantwal traffic sub-inspector Chandrashekarayya and policemen visited the spot and registered a case in this regard.
