Forest dept to set up Tree-Parks in all legislative constituencies of Karnataka - Minister Rai

Bantwal, 21 Jan 2017: The state forest department has been contemplating on setting of tree parks in all legislative assembly constituencies of Karnataka, while it would be implemented in stages, said state forest minister B Ramanath Rai.
The minister Rai was speaking after inaugurating Siri Chandanavana, garden developed by forest department at Government Higgher Primary School, Veerakamba – Kelinja, near here on Friday, January 20.
The tree-parks are already set up in Tannirbavi, Mangaluru and Badagabettu in Udupi, while there are early plans to set up tree-parks in front of IB, Bantwal and Birumale hill, Puttur, added minister Rai.
The Forest Conservation Act has been effectively enforced by planting 3,000 sandalwood trees in 500 acres in Kelinja, near here. The nursery of medicinal plants was developed at Karinja, near here and at the outskirts of Puttur.
TP president Chandrahas Karkera, vice president Abbas Ali, TP steering Committee president Dhanalaxmi Bangera, Cashew Development Board president B H Khader, TP member Jagdish Koila, ZP member Manjula Madhav Mave, Chandrapakash Shetty, TP member Geetha Chandrashekar, Shobha Rai, APMC members Padmaraj Ballal, Padmanabha Rai, Chandrashekar Poojary, SDMC president Hameed, BUDA president Pius L Rodrigues, deputy conservator of forest Dr T K Hanumantappa, village forestry Committee president Dilip Kumar, former president Vishwanat M, gram panchayat president Premalata, forest officer Vijay Narasimharaj and others were present.
Dr K T Hanumantappa welcomed the gathering. Dr Sanjay S Bijoor delivered the preliminary address. The ranger forest officer B Suresh proposed vote of thanks. Noufal Vittal compered the programme.
