Katapadi Rotary Donates Toilets to 43 Families

Katapadi, 26 March 2011: Rotary Club Katapadi has been organizing the various projects in the rural areas and serving the community and this time it has constructed 43 new toilets and donated them to the poor. Earlier in the last 3 years Rotary Club Katapadi has provided 52 toilets, thus in total it has donated 95 toilets to the poor community which has been greatly appreciated by the public in general.

 

These provision of toilets in places such as Katapadi, Kote, Kurkalu Grama Panchayath areas has provided one of the basic facility to poor community has been convenient to those who do not have toilets. Without any grant from the government Rotary Club has constructed these 43 toilets on its own with a total cost of rupees 7.20 lakhs.
 

 

Knowing the need of such facility in the rural areas and identifying the locations which deserve these facility, the club has fulfilled the need of the people. This project has been executed with the grant of Honalulu Sunrise Rotary Club of Hawai, U.S.A. The club has provided these 43 well built toilets not only to Katapadi but also to the poor families of Kote and Kurkalu Grama Panchayath areas.

 

 

Rotary Club has been doing the efforts since three to four years in orders to create awareness among the public and to those communities which did not get help from the government by providing these toilets. Identifying the care and service Katapadi Rotary Club has been undertaking, Honalulu Sunrise Rotary had earlier given a grant of rupees 67 lakhs and helped in the projects. Even now it has given a matching grant of rupees 7.20 lakhs and also Katapadi Rotary Club had planned a fund of rupees 1.8 lakhs in this project, said Katapadi Rotary Club President Raviraj Shetty.

 

The 43 toilets which are constructed by Katapadi Rotary Club with the matching grant of rupees 7.20 lakhs by Honalulu Sunrise Rotary will be handed over to the deserving on 28th march 2011, said Rotary Club Secretary Jagadish Kamath. Also on this occasion, under the W.C.S. project in collaboration with 18 Rotary Clubs of Philippines 250 deserving students will be given the study materials worth of rupees 82 thousands by Rotary District Governer Jnana Vasantha Shetty, as said in the press conference on Saturday.

 

In the press conference Katapadi Rotary Club President Raviraj Shetty, Rotary District Deputy Governer Ramesh Bandary, Rotary Office Bearers K. Sathyendra Pai, Shrikara Anchan, Jagannath Kote, Y. Bharath Hegde, Shrinivas Shenoy, Giridhar Shetty, Lakshman Suvarna, Subhas Ballal and Niranjan Poojary were present.
