Udupi: Two-week Faculty Devt Program inaugurated at SMVITM, Bantakal

Udupi, 13 Dec 2016: Sri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantkal, near here, organized two-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) named, ‘Transforming from a Responsible Manager to a successful Entrepreneur,’ at the institution premises, from Monday, December 12 to December 24.
Ramananda Nayak, joint director, district Industries Center, was the chief guest for the inaugural function and S B Revenkar, former director of STEP, NITK was the guest of honor for the event.
The event was presided by Rathnakumar, secretary, Sri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust.
In his inaugural address, Ramananda Nayak appreciated the effort of the college in organizing such a useful program for the benefit of the faculties. He also gave an overview on the role of banking sector in the development of small scale industries and about the various policies taken up by the state and central government in upbringing the budding industries. He also advised the colleges to take up measures in molding the local youth with the skills required by the nearby industries.
Revankar insisted in his speech on the need of such Programs and why faculties should focus on developing the entrepreneur skills of the students.
Professor Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal gave a prelude of the two week FDP. He said that the FDP will comprise of 25 sessions from various industrial experts and Government organizations like MSME, EDII, and DEC Udupi. As a part of the program one day industrial visit is organized to UPCL to practically visualize the industrial setup in the costal Karnataka.
Co-ordinator of the FDP Anand V R welcomed the gathering. Arun Upadhyaya proposed vote of thanks. Sushmitha rendered the invocation. Ramachandra B N and Nishitha D’Souza introduced the guests. Reshma Hebbar compered the program.
