Mangaluru: Record number of people partakes in RxLife Cycle Rally in city

Mangaluru, 12 Dec 2016: The tenth annual RxLife Cycle Rally conducted by Swasti RxLife Trust in association with Hercules BSA was held here on Sunday, December 11. This year, the rally witnessed a record participation of 2,800 participants and was the biggest rally till date. Enthusiastic cyclists within the age group of 10 to 87 years pedaled the 22 kms stretch passing through Lady Hill – Chilimbi – Kottara – Kodical – Kuloor – Urwa Store – Ashoknagar – Sultan Battery and the rally was concluded in Amrita Vidyalayam School Grounds, Boloor, here.

 

The rally was inaugrated by Daniel from TI Cycles and was flagged of by Jaya Kamath and Mukund Kamath of Ideal Ice Creams, Ullas Kamath of Jyothi Laboratory, Professor Dr M S Moodithaya, registrar of Nitte University, Shreema – an athlete and Jyothi Prasad Nayak from Jyothi Cycle Co. It was convened by Narendra Nayak and coordinated by Giridhar Kamath.

 

 

This year, 12 cycles and an Amazon Kindle were given away to lucky winners – a record number of prizes.

1.  Roadeo : Lakshmeesha - Canara College - Second PUC (First rally).

2.  Mach-City: Abhinav Rao - Lourdes Central School – Class VI.

3.  Roadeo: Shubham - Canara CBSE School – Class IX.

4.  Hercules Grut: Gautham Shenoy - Sharada Vidyalaya – Class VIII.

5.  Hercules ZX: Kantesh - St. Aloysius Urva – Class IX.

6.  Hercules Grut: Sachith - BJS – Class IX.

7.  Mach City: Dr. Ashok Shenoy - KMC (First rally).

8.  Lady Bird: Shravya Hegde - Amritha Vidyalaya – Class X.

9.  Roadeo: Anvitha Kiran : Mahesh PUC - I PUC.

10.  Hercules X-100: Kiran Kumar - Canara English Higher Primary School – Class VII.

11.  Hercules Roadeo NFS: Pratham - ITI.

12.  Hercules Roadeo A300: Ashutosh Kamath - Sharada Vidyalaya – Class IX.

13.  Amazon Kindle: Noel Sebastian - Kendriya Vidyalaya – Class X.

 

Alongside this, 7 people were felicitated.

1.  S Ramachandra Bhandary: For his social service.

2.  K Sadananda Prabhu: For his achievements in athletics.

3.  Abdul Raouf: For his selfless service wherever there is a traffic congestion.

4.  Anand: Who repaired cycles at a shop in Marigudi for around 50 years.

5.  Ramachandra Rao (87), Vishwanath (77) and Walter D’Souza (77): Senior riders who have been participating in the rally since past 10 years.
