Puttur: Town police seize new Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 16.80 lac; arrest 3 persons

Puttur, 08 Dec 2016: The city police seized Rs 16.80 lac in Indian currency new notes of Rs 2,000 Rs 1,90,700 amount of Rs 100 notes and Rs 9,300 amount of Rs 50 that was illegally being transported in Maruti Kwid car and arrested 3 accused at Mukrampandy, outskirts of city on Mani – Mysore state highway, here on Wednesday, December 7.
The arrested were identified as Jaffer Sharif (24), son of Ibrahim, resident of Kalladka in Goltamajalu gram panchayat, Nazir (25), son of Abubakker, resident of Manimajalu, in Goltamajalu gram panchayat and Mohammed Iqbal (26), resident of K C Road, Goltamajalu, near here.
The operation was carried out on the directions of SP Bhushan Gulab Rao Borase and instructions of ASP Dr Vedamurti by Puttur sub-division ASP Rishyant, Puttur town sub-inspector Mahesh Prasad, Sampya sub-inspector Abdul Khader, policemen Chandra H, C Vinayakumar, Raouf, Skaria H C and Prashant Rai.
Puttur town police registered a case in this regard.
