Udupi diocese to celebrate platinum jubilee of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur from Dec 9 to 12

Udupi, 07 Dec 2016: Udupi Catholic diocese will be celebrating platinum jubilee of historically famous Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur, here on Monday, December 12.

 

The Cathedral was built during 1941 completes 75 years. The belfry and the roof were repaired. The platinum jubilee celebrations will begin here from Friday, December 9. Fr Vincent Fernandes, rector of Minor Seminary at Mysuru will celebrate special Holy Mass for the repose of faithful passed away during 75 years.

 

Candle-light procession to the cemetery will be held to pray for the repose of souls on the occasion.

 

 

Monsignor Baptist Menezes, vicar general of Udupi diocese will celebrate Holy Mass on Saturday, December 10, at 4.30pm, in order to commemorate the beginning of catering to the spiritual needs of faithful.

 

Sunday, December 11 will be observed as Youth Day, while Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese will concelebrate the Holy Mass at 11.00am.

 

The concluding ceremony of pilgrimage of Holy Cross journeyed through Udupi diocese as part of National Youth Convention will be held.

 

Bishop Dr Lobo will concelebrate will bless the renovated facade/belfry and platinum jubilee memorial building at Milagres Cathedral on Monday, December 12.

 

After the Holy Mass, stage programme will be held presided by Bishop Dr Lobo.

 

 

 

Udupi diocesan vicar general Monsignor Baptist Menezes, Udupi district-in-charge minister Pramod Madwaraj, legislative council chief whip Ivan D’Souza, Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes, Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo, ZP president Dinakar Babu, ZP member Wilson Rodrigues, Janardhan Tonse, TP president Nalini Pradeep Rao, Kallianpur gram panchayat president Pushpa Kotial will be the chief guests of the occasion.

 

Free lunch will be served to the gathering.

 

Koni Kain Unyar Na, Konkani play by playwright Bernard D’Costa Kundapur will be staged by Kalamrut theater group of Kundapur as part of cultural event, iformed Milagres Cathedral parish priest Fr Stany B Lobo, parish council vice president Cyril Pinto and secretary Hilda Rodrigues in a media communiqué.
