Udupi: Pilgrimage of Holy Cross arrives ahead of National Youth Convention-2017

Udupi, 28 Nov 2016: The pilgrimage of Holy Cross that was embarked upon Catholic community across Karnataka ahead of National Youth Convention – 2017, arrived in Udupi diocese from Miyar parish, Karkala, on Sunday, November 27.
The pilgrimage of Holy Cross was held in parishes that come under the limits of Beltangady diocese for 20-days, while the office bearers of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of Udupi diocese received the same from Beltangady and brought to St Dominic parish, Miyar, Karkala taluk, in Udupi diocese.
Bishop Dr Lawrence Mukkuzee of Beltangady diocese led the handing over ceremony of Holy Cross along with vicar general Fr Binoy, cathedral rector Fr George, diocesan youth Commission director Fr Shibi Thomas, treasurer Arun, priests, nuns and youth. Udupi diocesan youth Commission director Fr Edwin D’Souza, president Loyal D’Souza, secretary Felina D’Souza, animator Walter D’Souza, Sr Hilda Mascarenhas, Karkala deanery youth director Fr Sunil, ICYM representative Velida Mascarenhas and others were present.
St Dominic parish, Miyar – parish priest Fr Manohar, ICYM parish unit president Joel Santumayor were also present.
The parishioners of Miyar accorded grand welcome to pilgrimage of Holy Cross when it was arrived from Beltangady to Karkala taluk and venerated with utmost devotion.
The pilgrimage of Holy Cross will cover all parishes in Udupi diocese from November 27 to December 11.
The preparations underway by the youth community of Udupi for veneration of Holy Cross, while Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi will concelebrate the ceremonious Eucharistic Mass at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur, here on December 11. The pilgrimage of Holy Cross will further continue its journey to Mangaluru diocese.
