Beltangady: 49th anniversary of enthronement of Veerendra Heggade celebrated

Beltangady, 25 Oct 2016: Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) is the role model for the world promoted by D Veerendra Heggade has constructed toilets to every household family in rural villages’ thereby sensitized people on cleanliness and hygiene, said Karnataka religious endowment minister Rudrappa Manappa Lamani.
He was speaking during 49th anniversary celebration of enthronement of D Veerendra Heggade as Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmadhikari at Dharmasthala, here on Monday, October 24.
SKDRDP sponsored self-help-groups empowered women to lead self sufficient living by economic security, said minister Rudrappa.
‘I was surprised to witness a large number of women attending Krushi Mela that was organized by SKDRDP at Haveri, recently,’ said minster Rudrappa. SKDRDP played a key role in alleviating poverty, illiteracy and unemployment, added minister Rudrappa.
Rajya Sabha member Dr Prabhakar Kore lauded the contributions of Heggade in fostering art, education, literature and culture.
Beltangady MLA K Vasant Bangera in his presidential address conveyed best wishes for Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala to become a global pilgrim centre.
Speaking on the occasion, "his responsibility lies in creating healthy society by religious celebrations and adhering to age-old traditions and practices. If one is righteous in life, peace and happiness will follow. God’s graces are always with the righteous," said Heggade.
Heggade released the history book of Dharmasthala, authored by Raviraj Ballal Bangady on the same occasion.
He also felicitated 11 employees including senior employee Obayya Gowda and Kamala Poojarthy.
MLC Koujalagimutt, MLA K Abayachandra Jain, Hemavati V Heggade, Swami Mohandas of Manila, Professor S Prabhakar, D Surendra Kumar, D Harshendra Kumar were present.
SDM Education Society secretary Dr B Yasho Varma welcomed the gathering. The temple celebrant Laxminarayan Rao proposed vote of thanks. Dr Sridar Bhat compered the programme.
