Puttur: CM Siddaramaiah lays foundation for Veterinary College at Koila

Puttur, 10 Oct 2016: Six-hundred-fifty veterinary doctors are appointed as per the requirement in the state. The posts of 692 veterinary doctors and 1,300 assistant directors are vacant. The state administration is making efforts to fill all posts in all departments including animal husbandry, said Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.

 

CM Siddaramaiah was speaking after laying the foundation for Veterinary College at Koila, near here on Sunday, October 9. The infrastructure developments will be done by state veterinary and animal husbandry department, state Fisheries University, Bidar.

 

 

The finance department relaxed the norms to fill up posts in different departments which will be filled at the shortly, added CM Siddaramaiah.  

 

The proposed Veterinary College will be laid on 247 acres out of a total of 895 acres, which will be utilized to construct veterinary hospital, hostel and farms. Rupees one-hundred-forty-two crore is already sanctioned. The first phase of work amounting to Rs 110.5 crore will be undertaken. The hostel can accommodate 60 students, said CM Siddaramaiah. He further said, ‘The veterinary colleges will be constructed in Gadag and Athani districts also because livestock is the national asset. The livestock is our asset that got to be developed. Meanwhile, the efforts will be made to develop milk production including developing local species of cows,’ said CM Siddaramaiah.  

 

Announcement of Kadaba taluk

The proposal to form 43 new taluks in state is in front of the government, while the announcement of Kadaba taluk will be announced shortly. Further actions will be taken to approve new PU College in Kadaba, near here very soon, added CM Siddaramaiah.

 

The district-in-charge Ramanath Rai, B Manju, U T Khader, legislative council chief whip MLC Ivan D’Souza, ZP president Meenakshi Shantigodu, MLA Shakuntala Shetty, former state minister Abayachandra Jain, MLA Moideen Bawa, Pratapchandra Shetty, district officers, peoples representatives were present.
