Mangaluru: Yenepoya Group organize workshop on Crossmatch testing in organ transplant

Mangaluru, 16 Sep 2016: Yenepoya Research Centre (YRC) here, in association with Yenepoya Medical College Hospital Laboratory (YMCHL), departments of Nephrology and Urology conducted a workshop on Crossmatch testing in organ transplantation here on Thursday September 15.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr G Shreekumar Menon, registrar, Yenepoya University.
Dr Santhosh Pai, Associate Professor, Department of Nephrology, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital emphasized the importance of Cadaveric kidney donation in renal transplants.
Dr Ankit Mathur, an eminent consultant from Transfusion Medicine Division, Rotary TTK Blood Bank, Bangalore Medical Services Trust was the key resource person for the workshop.
He delivered a lecture on Assessment of donor-recipient organ compatibility by serological and molecular HLA typing.
Dr M H Sheriff, laboratory director, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital gave an overview on establishment of CDC facility. The programme concluded with vote of thanks and facility view at YRC. The CDC facility at YMCHL will be accredited shortly by NABL and this facility will provide services for the local hospitals in this region for the effective and successful organ transplantation in a timely manner. YMCH is the only centre performing this test in Dakshina Kannada district which is very crucial before any organ transplantation.
