Udupi: Three days long Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav begins at Geeta Mandir, Moodubelle

Udupi, 05 Sep 2016: The three days long, 37th Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav organized by the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Samiti, Belle-Kattingeri began with Gana Homa and the ceremonial installation of the Shri Ganesh statue at Geeta Mandir, Moodubelle on Monday, 5 September 2016 at 12 noon.
The Gana Homa was performed by Vedamoorthy Shri Ganesh Bhat in the presence of the honorary Presidents of the Sarvajanik Shri Ganeshotsava Samiti - P.D. Kamat, Nagraj Kamat and Devdas Hebbar; President-Ratnakar Shettigar, Chief Secretary-Sudhakar Poojary; Treasurer-Rajendra Shettty, and other committee members as well as devotees.
The Melpete Friends of Moodubelle presented ‘Ashta Lakshmi Silver Pot’ costing about Rs.30,000/- on this occasion.
The stage for the Shri Ganesh idol is aesthetically decorated with flowers, areca fruits, tender coconuts and tender coconut palm by local artists.
Besides religious ceremonies, cultural programmes and competitions will be conducted during the three days long Ganeshotsav functionincluding drawing of the images of Shri Ganesh, dance programmes and Magic programme on Monday, 5 September. There will be community meal (Maha Annasantarpane) on Tuesday, 6 September and Tulu Social Play ‘Karnikoda Baalelu’ in the evening at 9pm. The procession for the immersion of Shri Ganesh idol will commence at 5 pm on Wednesday, 7 September and will end with the immersion of the idol at Thirlapalke pond at 8pm.
