Cop with two wives ’driven’ to suicide

 No suicide note; police say Constable Fakruddin’s wives often fought over him

Bangaluru, 21 Aug 2016: A 39-year-old police constable from the Sampigehalli station committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of his house in Gundappa Colony in Gagalur.

 

His body was discovered around 3.30am on Saturday by his wife. The deceased, Fakruddin, had two wives.

 

While he did not leave behind a suicide note, the police claimed he took the extreme step because he was unable to keep peace between his two wives.

 

He was staying with the women in KR Puram until six months ago. But constant tension and arguments between the wives forced him to relocate to Bagalur with his second wife.

 

According to the police, the first wife would fight with him, accusing him of favouring the second one.

 

Fakruddin was on duty at the station till 8pm on Friday. His second wife found Fakruddin hanging from the ceiling fan when she woke up early on Saturday. Police said they will take detailed statements of the two women and other family members to rule out foul play.

 

The body was shifted to the Ambedkar Hospital for autopsy. The Bagalur police have registered a case of unnatural death.
