Protesters lock state-run schools in Kalladka & Okkettoor against teachers transfer

Bantwal, 14 Aug 2016: The protesters locked Okkettoor Government School and Kalladka Government Model School, near here on Saturday August 13, against the state public instructions department, in order to stall the transfer of teacher in guise of transferring excess teachers.
The office bearers of school betterment Committee, PFI, students and their parents, locals locked the main gates of Okkettoor Government School in a protest move against the orders to transfer their 3 teachers.
Addressing the protesters, CITU leader Ramanna Vittal alleged that the state government is determined to shut down state-run schools, owing the lobby of private schools, minister and local MLA.
Karnataka parliamentary affairs secretary and Puttur MLA T Shakuntala Shetty who arrived at the spot, convinced the protesters to give up the protest that would threaten the studies of students. Meanwhile, she assured to bring the issue to the attention of government as the public instruction department has planned to include DK and Udupi districts with Malnad.
She also held talks with Vittal zonal education co-ordinator Pushpa and CRP Shivaram at the spot.
Vittal town panchayat members Abubakkar Okkettoor, Lataveni, Damayanti, Vittal Padnoor gram panchayat member Sharif Kodange, school betterment Committee president Abdul Aziz, member C H Arish, former vice president Sunita Rao, R K Arts proprietor Rajesh Vittal, Vittal merchants Assoiation president V S Ibrahim Okkettoor, SFI leader Tulsidas, Salim Malik and others were present.
