Mangaluru: MCCS hosts AICS Inter-School TT Tourney, Spin to Win -2016

Mangaluru, 14 Aug 2016: Mount Carmel Central School (MCCS), Mary Hill, here hosted Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools of D.K and Udupi districts (AICS) inter-school Table Tennis Tournament, Spin to Win – 2016, at their indoor stadium, on Saturday August 13 at 9.00am.
The inaugural ceremony began with a prayer song led by the students of Class X. The little ones of Class III mesmerized the audience by their gracious welcome dance. The encouraging welcome words by Sr Melissa AC, principal of MCCS put everyone at ease, specially the participants who would take part in the Table Tennis Tournament, Spin to Win - 2016.
AICS president and Canara CBSE School principal Joy J Rai inaugurated the tournament by spinning the table tennis ball on the board with the opponent Clara Maria, the staff of MCCS who was also a national table tennis player during her school-days. Joy in her inaugural address encouraged the participants stressing on the importance of participation rather than on winning prizes.
Yasmine Das proposed the vote of thanks. Richa Pinto compered the inaugural programme.
It was followed by an introductory guideline given by Gautham Shetty, chief referee and physical director of Delhi Public School, Mangaluru.
The tournament began with a participation of 148 students from 22 ICSE and CBSE Schools of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
Valedictory & Prize Distribution
The closing ceremony began with a prayer song led by the students of Class X.
Sr Maria Jyothi AC, joint secretary of MCCS presided the function, while Raghavalu, branch manager of State Bank of India, Yeyyady branch, here was the chief guest for the valedictory function who honoured the prize winners.
The vice principal Sr Snehal AC welcomed the gathering. Nisha proposed the vote of thanks. Ashwini compered the programme.
As part of the Green Cover project, the dignitaries on the dais on both the inaugural and valedictory functions were presented with a neem sapling each to further the care for an healthy environment.
