St. Lawrence Educational Institutions Moodubelle organize talk on Snakes by Gururaj Sunil

Udupi/M. Belle, 13 Aug 2016: The Science and Environmental Associations of St. Lawrence PU College, English Medium High School and Kannada Medium High School jointly organized a presentation on Snakes.
The valuable talk and awareness on snakes behavior was very well presented by a well- known Snakes Pandit Mr. Gururaj Sunil through power point presentation on Tuesday 9th August 2016 at the Kannada Medium School Hall.
School teacher Sri. Sudheer introduced the guests on the dais namely Mr Devdas Hebbar (Former Udupi Taluk Panchyat), Mr. Naveen Correa (Principal), Mrs. Leena D’Silva (Head Mistress) and Mrs. Veera Fernandes (Principal, English Medium School). Mr. Sudheer accorded a warm welcome to all the guests present on the dais.
The snake pandit Mr. Gururaj Sunil, very well presented the presentation on snakes and explained how Snakes are part of our environment, their behavior, adaptation to nature and how to protect them. He also due to lack of knowledge and many a times blind beliefs and taboos, we kill the harmless snakes and by doing so we are damaging our own environment. He further said there is nothing to worry about snakes and they do not harm human beings deliberately unless we stamp them due to negligence. He also in case of snakes bites how the first aid to be applied. Most of the snakes in our Dakshina Kannada are harmless and non-venomous but many people die due to fear after the snakes bites instead of taking first aid.
Mr. Devdas Hebbar purchased books on snakes authored by Mr. Gururaj Sunil worth Rs. 1000 and donated them to the school library.
Mrs. Leena D’Silva proposed vote of thanks. Mrs. Sunitha Kamath conducted the programme.
