Abducted Mangalore businessman rescued from Rajasthan

 

Mangaluru, 03 Aug 2016: A Mangaluru based business man, Richard Marian Lazarath, who was sent by his superior to Rajasthan for some business deal was kidnapped and kept on hold for three days. However, he was rescued by a police team who was sent from here under the timely intervention of minister U T Khader.

 

As per reports, Arun D’Souza, who operates a Kirloskar products dealership venture at Bijai here received an unknown call from Rajasthan offering him four generators at a reasonable rate. The caller said that he had got Arun’s number from the internet. Over the last two months, both the groups discussed on the deal—assuming the caller to be genuine Arun deputed Richard to Rajasthan on July 28 to inspect the generators. However, as Richard reached Bharatpur in Rajasthan on July 30, he was kidnapped and taken to an isolated place. The gang then called Arun and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh to release Richard.

 

Arun, however, contacted a few Congress leaders, who got in touch with minister U T Khader.

 

The minister then contacted the city police commissioner and the inspector general of Bharatpur, Alok.

 

With the help of the inspector general Alok and police of the area, Richard’s location was tracked through his mobile phone signals. Though the poice reached the spot and arrested a gang of three, Richard was not found as it was another gang that had kidnapped him.

 

The gang which had kidnapped Richard, came to know the arrest of other gang members. Hence, sensing something is wrong; they abandoned Richard at a place named Govardhan, before escaping.

 

Richard was found safe by the police team.

 

An investigation is on to find the gang behind this.
