‘Hashu Advani was a visionary, a selfless individual whose strength lay in the formation of a professional and talented team of individuals who have carried his noble legacy forward. Not merely resting on carrying forward his great work, the present team should establish new milestones in formulating new academic courses and innovative programs for disabled children. This course is a unique initiative to train potential personnel who have been sensitized and trained in a professional manner to teach disabled children and assimilate them in the social mainstream,’ said minister Tawade. He also stressed on the larger inclusion of children with disabilities in the mainstream education milieu and stated that normal children and parents should be sensitized to the needs of special children through counselling sessions.
CCYM operates a host of institutions including Rochiram Thadani High School for Hearing Impaired, Yogvidya Center and Akaar Health Centre. Hearing handicapped children from RTT High School also participated in the program by performing cultural programs and proving they could perform to their utmost capacity given the right chance and environment. HACSE is a leading name in curating specialized programs for special education for the last 2-decades and conceptualized this special course for plugging the huge demand supply gap which exists when it comes to trained personnel to teach special abilities children. There is a definite need today to indentify, assess, intervene and advocate the needs of children with disabilities and such specialized courses are the need of the hour, said Amar Asrani, director of CCYM.
