Udupi: Rotarat Club - Subhasnagar plants paddy saplings for noble cause

Udupi, 31 Jul 2016: Rotary Club International (RCI) - Shankerpura sponsored Rotaract Club of Subhasnagar is aiming high to serve the poor people of their area ever since the formation of the Club. Supported by RCI - Shankerpura jointly with Inner Wheel Club of Shankerpura and with the active role of locals inaugurated their dream project of planting rice saplings at Kunjurugiri, near Subhasnagar, here on Sunday July 31.
They started this unique project of growing paddy for a common cause called charity. With a noble purpose in their mind, they approached a good Samaritan for his barren field for growing paddy. The field was ploughed and paddy saplings planted jointly with assistance of Rotary and Inner Club Shankerpura and locals. The processed rice from this yield will be distributed to poor and orphanages.
More than 50 members from Rotaract Club of Subhasnagara, Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Shankerpura led by the presidents of all three clubs got down in the barren field and planted paddy saplings with vigour and enthusiasm.
The event was witnessed by District Rotaract Representative (DRR. Jayaraj, assisted by Rtr. Praveen Poojary, president of Rotaract Subhasnagar, secretary Malini Shetty, past president Praveen Shetty, members and local community.
The entire project was supervised by district bulletin former editor Chandra Poojary of Rotaract Subhasnagara supported by Bhuvanesh L Poojary, past president and member of Kurkal grama panchayat and Mohandas R Shetty, headmaster of St John’s High School. Shankerpura.
The Rotary president Anil D’Sa, Clifford D’Mello, past president, Jerome Rodrigues, Rotaract chairman, Daniel Ammanna, income tax officer, John Rodrigues, Interact chairman, Victor Martis and members of Rotary Club, Inner Wheel club, Shankerpura president Ivy D’Souza, secretary Veena D’ Souza, past president Alice Rodrigues, former secretary Pricilla Quadros and members were present to assist, support and motivate the young Rotaract members. All of them applauded noble deed of Rotaract for the less privileged people of the society.
