Devadiga Yuva Vedike on mission to revive farming planted paddy saplings on 1.75 acre field

Udupi, 19 Jul 2016: Devadiga Yuva Vedike® organized planting paddy saplings in order to revive the farming that has sustained rural families in several centuries in undivided DK district at the paddy field owned by Laxmi Sherigar at Alevoor, here on Sunday July 17.
Devadiga Yuva Vedike® organized this farming activity for the second year to involve the rural youth in farming who are migrating to towns and cities shunning hard labor.
Over 100 members of Devadiga Yuva Vedike® and their families toiled to plant the saplings on the field admeasuring 1.75 acre on Sunday.
They also honored veteran farmer Laxmi Sherigar, to whom this land belonged.
Devadiga Yuva Vedike® secretary Prabhakar Devadiga, treasurer Praveen Kumar, other members Pradeep Moily, Wakesh Kumar, Ashok Devadiga, Ashok Alevoor, Devadiga Seva Sangha® former president Sridar Devadiga, Nadashree Co-operative Society president Chandrakant Devadiga, Srinivas Devadiga and others were present.
