Udupi: ICYM Pangala organizes a day with Mother Mary with entertainment program

Udupi/Shankerpura, 19 Jul 2016: The feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Succor (Nityadhar Mai) was celebrated on Sunday 17th July 2016. The day began with a Holy Eucharistic Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Joshwin D’Souza (Asst. Parish Priest, Belman) concelebrated with Rev. Fr. Leslie D’Souza (PP St. John’s Pangla), Fr. Vincent Coello (Principal) and Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mendonsa.
In his brief homily, Fr. Joshwin beautifully narrated how we need to lift others by helping each other especially the downtrodden. He said that our basic duty is to help others especially those are in need and service should be our moto of our life. At the end of the day Holy Mass scapulars were distributed to the faithful.
After the Eucharistic Mass three new buses for students of St. John’s Academy were blessed by Fr. Leslie D’Souza.
In the evening entertainment program titled An Evening with Mother Mary (MoriyeSangiEkSanz) was organized by ICYM Pangala Unit involving all the associations of Pangala Parish. Variety of entertainment programmes, skits, hymns and dances enthralled the audience.
On this auspicious occasion Ms. Clara Mendonsa was honoured who recently retired as Headmistress of the St. John’s Kannada Medium School. She was felicitated with traditional shawl, a garland, fruits and a memento by the guests on the dais namely Fr. Leslie, Fr. Vincent, Mr. Mark Vas (VP Parish Council), Ms. Simi D’Souza (Secretary, Parish Council) and Oliver D’Sa (President, ICYM Pangla).
Ms. Clara Mendonsa spoke on the occasion and explained how with great difficulty or near closure of Kannada Medium school was lifted by the help of Fr. Leslie and other donors and her old students. She was grateful for all the students, teachers and parish priests for helping her to continue her mission as a teacher and then as Headmistress without any problems.
Also Joyson Charles D’sa president of ICYM shirva deanery was felicitated. He too was felicitated with traditional shawl, a garland, fruits and a memento by the guests on the dais namely Fr. Leslie, Fr. Vincent, Mr. Mark Vas (VP Parish Council), Ms. Simi D’Souza (Secretary, Parish Council).
All the outstanding students who scored highest marks in the S.S.L.C exam this year were felicitated.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Dinel Castelino president of YCS Pangla unit.
Also Fr. Vincent Coello and Fr. Leslie spoke on the occasion and appreciated ICYM Pangla unit for putting up this beautiful "MoriyeSangi Ek Sanz" nvolving all the associations and wonderfully coordinating all the entertainment programs.
Arron Dsouza and Jenisha Rodrigues compeered the entire program wonderfully.
