Udupi, 16 Jul 2016: Its only planet Earth has living beings. The human greed is taking a toll on environment. Despite this, Mother Earth bears the unceasing destruction in sustaining all living beings. The responsible citizens ought to take the lead in maintaining eco equilibrium. The students got to do their mite in this regard. Mother Earth is adorable, said renowned social activist Ummer Ismail.
Ummer was the chief guest speaking during celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr and Vanamahotsav programme at Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva, here on Friday July 15.
Shirva - Our Lady of Health parish council vice president Wilson D’Souza said that if the students pursue the theme of ‘My house, clean house, my school, clean school,’ it would be easier to realize the mission of Swacch Bharat, said Wilson.
The School correspondent Fr Stany Tauro distributed varieties of saplings to all teachers and students to plant at the campus.
The student Ameena spoke about the holy month of Ramadan, 30-day fasting in preparation for Eid-ul-Fitr.
The student Vilona D’Almeida spoke about the need for sustaining environment.
Niraj D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Shaikh Sadaf compered the programme. Vion Fernandes proposed vote of thanks. The school pupil leaders Sahil Ummer of High School, Brenet Nazareth of Primary School, Irene Cardoza, Nitha Castelino and Josephine Rebello were present.
