Udupi: Semi-high speed train will be reality in Konkan Railway route - Minister Prabhu

Udupi, 11 Jul 2016: Indian Railways has take bold steps in responding to the needs of passengers in 4 coastal states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala by introducing semi high-speed train services linking key towns and cities. The basic amenities such as pure drinking water, hygienic food and cleanliness are already provided in trains, said union railway minister Suresh Prabhu.
The union minister Prabhu was speaking after remotely laying foundation for upgrading Innanje Railway Station, near here on Monday July 11. It will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 11.34 crore.
MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, ZP president Dinakar Babu, ZP member Geetanjali Suvarna, Shilpa Suvarna, former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, TP president Nalini Pradeep, Tirumaleshwar Bhat, Innanje gram panchayat president Rekha Anil Kumar, TP member Rajesh Shetty and railway department officials were present.
Indian Railways chairman and managing director Sanjay Gupta welcomed the gathering. Konkan Railways senior regional electrical engineer Raghunat Nayak compered the programme. The regional railway manager Mohammed Azim Suleiman proposed vote of thanks.
MP Shobha Karandlaje laid the foundation for upgrading the Innanje Railway Station during the simple function held at the station.
