Tree Plantation Programme held at St Philomena College

Puttur, 11 Jul 2016: NCC unit and NSS unit of St Philomena College, here jointly organized Tree Plantation programme at the College campus on Saturday July 9.
The campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated in the programme and said, ‘Tree plantation can reduce global warming which is the main reason of climate change. The observance of Vanamahotsava, should not be limited to planting seedlings, but should include the protection and making the trees grow.’
The Principal Professor Leo Noronha complimented the NCC unit and NSS unit for organizing the programme and said, ‘Protection of environment with the help of Tree Plantation is need of the hour.
The principal of St Philomena PU College Fr Vijay Lobo graced the occasion.
The convener of press and publicity Committee Professor Dinakara Rao was present.
The formal programme was followed by the planting of saplings of different species around the college premises by the members of NCC unit and NSS unit.
NSS officer Professor Radhakrishna Gowda welcomed the gathering. NSS officer Professor Geetha Poornima K proposed the vote of thanks. NCC officer Lieutenant Johnson David Sequeira co-ordinated in the programme.
