Udupi: Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore diocese honoured during Milagres Parish Feast

Kallianpur, 10 Jul 2016: Most Rev. Dr. Aloysious Paul D’Souza who was serving as Bishop of Mangalore Diocese for 20 years was felicitated during Feast to Milagres Parish on Saturday the 9th July 2016 at Tri-Centenary Auditorium at Kalyanpur, Udupi.
The celebrations began with a concelebrating mass with Bishop most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza along with Bishop of Udupi Diocese Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza (Secretary CESU, Rev. Fr. Stany B. Lobo – Rector and Parish Priest Milagres Church, Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonsa (Parish Feast – Barkoor Parish) and many priests of Udupi Diocese.
In his brief Homily Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza stressed on importance of leaving a good example life just like Mother Mary led. Her life was based on three most important virtues i.e. A good Mother, A good and a devout wife. If our women adhere to these characters, the family life will be put on a strong foundation. A large number of Priests and nuns and parishioners attended the grand feast mass.
Thereafter a brief felicitation for Bishop of Mangalore Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza on the occastion of his completing 20 years as Bishop of Mangalore, his 75 year Platinum Jubilee and Golden Jubilee of his priesthood was held at the Tri-Centenary Hall. The celebrations began with a welcome by Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa (PRO Udupi Diocese). A wonderful prayer dance was performed by students of Milagres English Medium School.
Rev Fr. Baptist Menezes Vicar General of Udupi Diocese accorded a hearty Welcome to all gathered on the occasion esp. Bishop Aloysius and other special dignitaries present on the dais and all the priests and religious nuns.
During the felicitation program Fr. Lawrence D’Souza read the citation highlighting Bishop’s various achievements during his tenure as Bishop for twenty years. The bishop Aloysius D’Souza was honoured with a traditional shawl by Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo, A fruit basket by Rev. Fr. Stany Lobo, a citation by Fr. Lawrence D’Souza and a special memento representing Milagres Cathedral by Bishop Gerald Lobo. The Choir of Milagres Cathedral sang a beautiful song composed by Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonsa.
Bishop Aloysius thanked the parishioners of Melagres Cathedral for their kind invitation for the feast of their Patron Mother Mary and most importantly for their love and affection by honouring him on this auspicious occasion.
All the parishioners and well wishers honoured Bishop Aloysius with flowers bouquets thereafter.
A sumptuous lunch was organized for all the invitees for the felicitation program.
