Udupi: SFX Friends, Udyavar distributes scholarship to needy students of 4 parishes

Udupi, 08 Jul 2016: Under the leadership of St Francis Xavier (SFX) Friends, Udyavar distributed scholarship to students, who are pursuing primary, high school, PUC, degree, diploma and nursing courses, during the function held at Udyavar parish hall, here on Wednesday July 6.
They have distributed around scholarship worth Rs 70,000 to 35 students, who are the parishioners of 4 local churches. A businessman Ronald Manohar Karkada sponsored the scholarship amount.
Admiring the Karkada’s service chief guest, Udyavar parish priest Fr Roque D’Souza said, ‘He is doing noble work, since many years he helped poor families, to getting medical treatment and provided Bible, those who do not have bible at the house. I feel very happy to having such kind hearted donor.’
Speaking on the occasion Ronald said, ‘We are blessed with good and active parish priest. He supports all social services and God also blessed me to serve the society. I am sharing small part of my income.’
He advised the students to put on hard work and be studious. One should take care of their parents. Students should help other deprived people after getting jobs.
Ronald Manohar Karkada is engaged himself in social service since 2 years. He extended helping hand to 114 families in 2014, which have covered 20 churches and 140 families in 2015. He has provided necessary food grains through respective parish priests to celebrate Christmas including cakes and Kuswar
.
The churches were Our Lady of Fathima church Perampalli, Holy cross church Pamboor, St Francis church and United Basel mission church Udyavar.

Scholarship was distributed at the training programme organized for ICYM Udyavar.
Loyal D’Souza, president, ICYM, Udupi diocese, Saharan Lobo, president, ICYM Udyavar, Wilfred D’Souza, former president, Souharda Samiti, Udyavar and Deeksha Karkada were present.
