Mangaluru: RTA to convene meeting to address grievances of school bus drivers

Mangaluru, 01 Jul 2016: The transport department is aware of the difficulties of school bus drivers and a meeting will be convened shortly at the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner to address their grievances, said Regional Transport Authority (RTA) officer G S Hegde.
Hegde was speaking after inaugurating the convention of school bus drivers of Mangaluru city at Don Bosco Hall, here on Thursday June 30.
He also shared tips on precautions to be taken by the drivers to avoid road mishap. Further, he assured to fulfill their demands within the framework of law, because the drivers were united for a cause.
CITU district general secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal said that the tragedy that occurred a week ago in Kundapur is heart rendering. Every accident has many factors, while the traffic police cannot target all the drivers by charging exorbitant fines.
Assistant Police Commissioner Uday Nayak, CITU veteran leader and honorary advisors Umesh Shetty and Kumar Malemar were also present.
DK district school bus drivers Association president Gangadhar Rai, Chittaranjan, Satish Poojary, Praveen Lady Hill, Jayaram, Munna Padavinangady, Lokesh Suratkal, Mohan Attavar, Mohammed Ansar, Prashant Alva, Jossy D’Cunha, Jagdish Ullal, Gangadhar Shettigar and others were present.
