Taluk level Physical Education Teachers’ workshop inaugurated in St. Lawrence PU College Hall

Udupi/M’Belle, 18 Jun 2016: Daylong Udupi Taluk level Physical Instructors’ workshop was organized in St. Lawrence PU College Hall Moodubelle on Saturday, 18 June 2016. The inaugural function was held at 10 am presided over by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions. The guests on the dais included: Madhukar S-Udupi District Physical Education Officer,  Basava Rajappa-Udupi Taluk Physical Education Officer, Somappa Thingalaya-President of Udupi Taluk Physical Education Teachers’ Association, Navin Correa-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College and Mrs. Leena D’Silva-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School.

 

Following the welcome address by Somappa Thingalaya, the dignitaries on the dais formally inaugurated the daylong workshop by lighting the lamp.

 

 

In his introductory address, Basava Rajappa said that it is necessary for the physical education teaches to keep in touch with the modern developments in education in general and physical education in particular. It is the responsibility of the physical instructors to identify and promote talented sports students so that they can achieve success at all level of competition including national and international levels. He expressed happiness that students from Udupi Districts have made a mark and have won medals at the national level  in kabaddi and karate competitions.

 

In his message, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas wished well to the daylong workshop of physical instructors of Udupi Taluk and said that while he was a student he had great affection and respect for his physical instructor. Physical instructors play an important role in the lives of sports personalities.

 

Madhukar S in his speech expressed happiness that St. Lawrence High School has come forward to host the daylong workshop of the physical instructors. He stressed on the importance of identifying the sports boys and girls and giving them proper training so that that can advance in competitions at various levels and perform well.

 

Navin Correa in his message wished success to the daylong workshop of Physical Instructors.

 

Mrs. Leena D’Silva in her address said that when Valerian Crasta, the physical instructor of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School expressed a desire to organize the daylong Udupi Taluk level physical instructors’ workshop at Moodubelle in consultation with Fr. Clement Mascarenhas she readily agreed and promised support for the workshop. She also recalled the Taluk level boys’ volleyball tournament that was held in last August in spite of heavy rains.

 

Sai Prasad, Secretary of Udupi Taluk level physical Instructors’ Association proposed the vote of thanks and Kirtikumar Shetty, physical instructor of Church Aided Higher Primary School, Moodubelle compered the programme.

 

The theme of the daylong physical education teachers’ workshop was ‘Awareness of New Educational Policy including Physical Education”.
