Mangaluru: World Environment Day observed at Pilikula Science Centre

Mangaluru, 08 Jun 2016: Dr Shivaram Karant Nisargadhama, Pilikula, here observed World Environment Day on Tuesday June 7.
Mangaluru - deputy conservator of forests Dr K T Hanumantappa inaugurated World Environment Day at Pilikula here on Tuesday morning.
Jayaprakash Nayak, the senior scientific officer of Karnataka state Pollution Control Board, Mangaluru regional office and Dr P S Machado, director of Government of Teachers Training College – Mangaluru were the chief guests of the occasion.
The students and teachers of Government of Teachers Training College – Mangaluru were present.
Dr Hanumantappa, dignitaries and students inaugurated the programme by planting the saplings at Pilikula Regional Science Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hanumantappa said the human interference is causing greenhouse gases that are causing global warming. There lies urgency to grow greenery to maintain eco balance.
Jayaprakash Nayak and Dr Machado appealed the gathering to take earnest steps in sustaining mother nature by planting saplings during monsoon season at the household.
Pilikula Regional Science Centre director Dr K V Rao presided the programme.
Dr H S Shenoy welcomed the gathering and delivered the preliminary address. Ramakrishna Marate proposed vote of thanks.
The students visited different departments at Pilikula throughout the day. Karnataka state Pollution Board, Bengaluru sponsored the programme.
