Kundapur: Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo inaugurates newly-built Tallur Church

Kundapur, 15 May 2016: The worship centres are symbol of God’s presence, said bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese.
Bishop Dr Lobo was speaking after inaugurating newly-constructed Karnataka’s first ever star-shaped church at Tallur, near here on Thursday May 12.
The worship centres much revered in Indian culture, because it promotes divinity in human being to seek His intercession. ‘Our state faces the acute shortage of drinking water that was caused by reckless destruction of environment in greed of profit. St Francis Assisi, the patron of church always had great regard for environment. We got to commit to develop a tiny garden in our households,’ said Bishop Dr Lobo.
The state urban and Udupi district-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake was the chief guest said that Christian education institutions across the world humanity and brotherhood. The Christian institutions contributed significantly in educating masses in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
Bishop Dr Lobo inaugurated the newly-built church/grotto and offered the Eucharistic Mass before the stage programme.
The donors and parish priests who served at the same church were felicitated on the same occasion.
The parish council secretary Stany D’Silva read the message of Pope Francis that was sent by Vatican.
MLC Pratapchandra Shetty, Tallur gram panchayat president Anand Billava, Kundapura deanery vicar Fr Anil D’Souza, Siddi Vinayaka temple chief trustee Vidwan Ramachandra Bhat, Al Badriya masjid Khatib B A Ismail Madani, parish priest Fr Sunil Veigas, Jayarani Convent superior Sr Ancy Paul were present.
The parish council vice president Arun Mendonca welcomed the gathering. Fr Sunil Veigas proposed vote of thanks. Anil D’Silva and Neetha Mendonca compered the programme.
