Udupi, 13 May 2016: A woman who went missing during her rail journey from Mumbai to Kerala, was found dead on the tracks near Mangaluru. The body of Thrissur Chelakara native Ajitha, (40), was found lying 30 feet deep in a dump yard between Barkur and Udupi. Police said the dupatta of the woman’s suit was found tightened around her neck and the fatal injury on her head was the reason for her death. Though there were initial reports that she was assaulted.

Ajitha had taken dinner from the train and gone to sleep when the train reached Madgaon station. Ajitha’s husband came to know about his wife missing when the train reached Payyannur the next day morning. Ajitha’s bag and mobile was found intact in her seat.
