Bantwal: Temperature sours causing wildfire; 8-acre plantations gutted at Kamaje

Bantwal, 10 May 2016: The palm grove including areca plantations in 8 acre plot in populated area of Kamaje, at the limits of B Mooda gram panchayat, here was gutted in wildfires on Monday May 9 afternoon.

 

 

The plot was owned by the late Pillai was gutted in wildfire owing to high gales on Monday afternoon. 

 

The fire brigade arrived at the spot, while the fire fighters tried frantically to contain the wildfire, despite the shortage of water. The municipal tankers also supplied the water meant for public distribution owing the grave situation that threatened to spread to nearby houses. The local youth also joined in the efforts of containing the fire.
