Mangaluru: Pa Go Award conferred to Chandrahas Charmady for rural reporting

Mangaluru, 02 May 2016: Dakshina Kannada district working journalists Association conferred Padyana Gopalakrishna (Pa Go) Award for rural reporting to ‘Nirantara Pragati’ bulletin sub-editor Chandrahas Charmady during the function held at Press Club, here on Sunday May 1.
Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police Dr Sharanappa S D after conferring the award said, ‘The media can reform the society by highlighting the flaws in the society.’
The senior journalist Manohar Prasad was the chief guest, appealed to young journalists to maintain strong bond with fellow journalists in working for the society.
Manohar also narrated finer aspects of his association with the late Padyana Gopalakrishna, and urged the fellow journalists to be vigilant in reporting the news that ignites disharmony in the society.
Chandrahas Charmady after receiving the award said that his responsibility has increased after bagging the award and motivated to further improve his work.
The senior journalist Suresh Belagaje, who was transferred to Bengaluru was bid farewell on the same occasion.
The cricket team of Dakshina Kannada district working journalists Association was felicitated for bagging state level journalists cricket championship held recently at Mysuru.
Patrika Bhavan Trust president Anand Shetty, Mangaluru Press Club general secretary Guruvappa Balepuni, Dakshina Kannada working journalists Association treasurer Ibrahim Adkastala, veteran journalist Chidambar Baikampady, award jury I B Sandeep Kumar were present.
Dakshina Kannada working journalists Association president Jagannat Shetty Bala presided the programme.
Dakshina Kannada working journalists Association former president P B Hariprasad Rai compered the programme. The general secretary Srinivas Nayak Indaje proposed vote of thanks.
