Mangaluru: Info dept launches mobile campaign for APMC online marketing

Mangaluru, 22 March 2016: The publicity campaign was begun at Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) complex, Baikampady, here on Monday March 21, to create awareness among the farmers fraternity on enrolling for online marketing that was introduced by state APMC.
APMC Mangaluru president Yekkar Monappa Shetty inaugurated the programme that was organized by APMC - Bengaluru, in collaboration with DK district information and public relations department.
Speaking on the occasion, Monappa said that online marketing of farm produce has been introduced to maintain transparency, improve efficiency and simplify the procedures. It would facilitate the farmers to get just pries for their farm produce and they would get the transfer of money to their accounts in time, said Monappa.
APMC secretary Ramachandra Reddy said that farm produce at the APMC complex will have no transparency. The produce is graded depending on the quality. It would help to get competitive rates by tender process, open auctioning or mutual understanding. In order to enroll online marketing, the farmer should furnish his mobile number and bank account.
The district information officer B A Khadersha in his preliminary address said that the mobile truck that was specially introduced for publicity of online marketing will move in rural villages across the district and educate the farmers.
Baikampady corporator Purushottam Chitrapura, APMC member Jayasheela Adyantaya and others were present.
