SBI donates Rs 21.12 lac to Swami Dayananda Chatralaya, Bantakal

Udupi, 20 March 2016: State Bank of India (SBI), India’s major bank that has over 2 centuries of history donates 2 percent of its annual profit under social responsibility for different social welfare programmes across the nation. Meanwhile, out of the current profit of Rs 16,000 crore, Rs 300 crore will be donated for orphanages, for the welfare of poor students and physically handicapped, said SBI Udupi regional manager T E Nagappa.

 

Nagappa was speaking after donated a cheque of Rs 21.12 lac to Swami Mokshananda Saraswati of Swami Dayananda Chatralaya, orphanage for poor students located at Jayasmrutidhama, Arasikatte, Bantakal, near here on Friday March 18.

 

 

He also honored the students who secured 95 percent marks in SSLC and PUC in 2015.

 

Swami Mokshananda in his preliminary address said that the local donor Prafulla Jaya Shetty donated 1 acre plot for the Chatralaya in 2005. Pilar Vasudev Prabhu settled in USA donated a building. Bannanje Balakrishna Nayak and Bantakal Geeta Wagle are heading the governing council. Ninety poor students from Bidar, Gulbarga, different parts of Uttara Karnataka are provided with free food, accommodation, daily training in yoga and worship.

 

The P Vasudev Prabhu, Bantakal Ramakrishna Sharma, M Balakrishna Nayak, SBI Shirva branch manager Krishna D N were present at the dais.

 

SBI Udupi branch chief manager M S Shenoy welcomed the gathering. Akash Nayak compered the programme. Geeta Wagle proposed vote of thanks.
