Mumbai: Konkani binds people of different faith who speak Konkani - Basti

Mumbai, 21 March 2016: Konkani is a classical language that promotes brotherhood among Konkani speaking communities belonging to different faiths. It’s our duty to take it to greater heights, said Basti Vaman Shenoy, chairman of Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Mangaluru.
Shenoy was speaking during Konkani Mano-Milan programme that was jointly organized by Akhil Bharatiya Konkani Parishat and Maharashtra Konkan Association at St Jude’s School premises, Jerimeri, Kurla (West) here on Sunday March 20.
St Jude’s parish priest Fr Lancy Pinto was the chief guest of the occasion.
Konkani Parishad president Gokuldas Prabhu, Jnaneshwara Chari, Anant Amembal, Venkatesh Shenoy, Konkani Basha Mandal Mumbai® president John D’Silva, Konkani Association former president Walter D’Souza, president Benedicta B Rebello and others were present at the dais.
Gerry Bondel and Lancy Niddody presented the welcome song. Konkani Parishat vice president Dr Chandrashekar N Shenoy welcomed the gathering. Maharashtra Konkan Association® founder president Leo Fernandes delivered the preliminary address.
Valerian Quadros, Philomena Sanfraniso, Cyril Castelino, Mary B Pinto, Rita Albuquerque, Helen Godinho, Philip D’Souza, Ashok Dias Byndoor, Nerri Nazareth, Pasal Lobo, Victor Concesso, John D’Silva, Venkatesh Shenoy and Leo Fernandes presented their poems during the poets session that was moderated by Ron Michael.
Variety cultural shows including Konkani musical concert was staged as part of entertain programme.
Ancy Cordeiro compered the programme. The honorary general secretary Cyril Castelino compered the stage programme.
