Udupi: WGSHA gets world recognition, ranked 40th

Udupi, 15 March 2016: Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), Manipal, one of the best hotel management institutes in the country finds a place among the best across the world. Ceoworld.biz, a well-acclaimed magazine websites recently released the ranking of the top 50 hotel management colleges in the world and WGSHA has been ranked 40th.
The list comprises institutes offering the best courses in hospitality and hotel management. The list has private and government approved, hotel management institutes. The ranking was based on a survey of 18,000 hospitality recruiters and senior managers of luxury hotels around the world. Only one other Indian college has figured in the list of 50, that is IHM Chennai at 35. School of Hotel Administration,m Cornell University (Ithaca, NY) was top ranked, William F Harrah College of Hotel Administration, University of Nevada at Las Vegas was second and The Shool of Hospitality Business, Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI) was third.
‘We are excited and proud of the achievement and will leave no stone unturned to go higher up in the ranking,’ said principal of WGSHA, Professor Parvadhavardhini Gopalakrishnan. ‘It was a glorious moment for the 30-year-old college that was historically the first college in India to commence a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management way back in 1986 in association with ITC Hotels Ltd,’ she added.
The vice principal, chef Thirugnanasambhantham said, ‘We look forward to achieve greater heights and to continue to provide quality education to aspirant hoteliers and chefs of India.’
To celebrate the achievement, students, alumni, faculty and Manipal University officials from some of the other institutes with a gathering of over 800 students cut a 25 lbs exotic cake and toasted champagne.
