Govt to pass notification on plastic ban throughout Karnataka
Bengaluru, 14 March 29016: In a bid to make the state environment friendly, the government will pass a notification on Monday enforcing a ban on all forms of plastic throughout the state.
The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) will take the help of various civic agencies and the police in helping to enforce the ban on plastics including, those above 40 microns.
However, the ban will have certain exceptions: packaging of dairy products, exported goods, sealing manufactured goods and plastic bags used for growing seedlings in nurseries need not follow the ban.
Officials plan to enforce the ban strictly from the first day itself. Notices will be issued to several plastic manufacturing units, notifying them of their cancelled license.
An official said that the cooperation of Corporators and MLAs would go a long way in enforcing the ban and creating awareness.

That is one very nice move from the government in Karnataka. Having in mind the number of the population in the area and the amounts of plastic that is being produced. With the waste management techniques that are adopted there I think it would be a bit impossible to get rid of all that plastic waste. Finally I see a government that is highly interested in providing the population with favourable living conditions with minimized pollution.
