Udupi: Varado level Way of the Cross held at Kuntalnagar with reverence and devotion

Udupi, 13 Mar 2016: Reverence and devotion marked the Udupi Varado level Way of the Cross held at outdoor Stations of the Cross at St. Antony’s Church, Kuntalnagar from 5.30 pm to 6.45 pm in which a large number of people from 9 parishes included in the Varado participated along with their respective parish and assistant parish priests. The Way of the Cross was conducted by Rev. Fr. Prakash Lobo (OFM Cap) along with readers and choir from Kuntalnagar parish.
Prior to the Way of the Cross, from 3 pm to 4.30 pm there was preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Confession.
At 4.30 pm, the Holy Mass was concelebrated by Most Rev. Dr. Albert D’Souza, Archbishop of Agra as the chief celebrant along with Msgr. Baptist Menezes, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese, Rev. Fr. Fred Mascarenhas, Dean of Udupi Varado, Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, Parish Priest of Kuntalnagar and PRO of Udupi Diocese and other priests from the Varado.
Rev. Fr. Prakash Lobo (OFM Cap) in his homily highlighted the mission of Jesus Christ and said that whomsoever he touched during his public life and on the Way of the Cross represented the entire humankind and whatever Jesus did and said to them has been the message to entire humanity.
The solemn Way of the Cross began soon after the holy mass. Rev. Fr. Prakash Lobo conducted the Way of the Cross in a meaningful manner. In the introduction, Rev. Fr. Prakash Lobo said that the Way of the Cross is the’ Way of Mercy’, keeping in view the declaration of the ‘Year of Mercy’ by Pope Francis. During each of the Station of the Cross, following preliminary invocation, relevant passages from the Holy Scriptures were read out. This was followed by narration of particular situations in family as well as society. Meditation on the Station of the Cross was read out by Fr. Prakash with the message of Pope Francis followed by prayer.
Three representatives from each of the 9 parishes carried the Crucifix and candles on the Way of the Cross.
Perfect silence, reverence and devotion marked the entire proceedings of the Way of the Cross that took nearly one hour fifteen minutes. At the end of the Way of the Cross, Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa thanked Rev. Fr. Prakash Lobo for conducting the Way of the Cross along with other participants from the parish in a meaningful manner. He also expressed gratitude to Rev. Msgr. Baptist Menezes, Rev. Fr. Fred Mascarenhas, other priests from the Varado and all the people who had come from different parishes to participate in the Varado level Way of the Cross.
Rev. Msgr. Baptist Menezes and Rev. Fr. Fred Mascarenhas complimented Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa and Kuntalnagar parishioners for organizing the Varado level Way of the Cross in an atmosphere of devotion and reverence.
